As I mentioned earlier, I’m a movie buff. However, lately, movies and movie theaters have lost their charm. The theaters have become exorbitantly expensive, and the popcorn has also undergone a drastic change. The butter on the popcorn has become a completely different flavor. Now, let’s discuss the movies currently playing in theaters. They haven’t been particularly impressive either. Most of them seem either unoriginal or overly extravagant. However, I must admit that the Now You See Me franchise has consistently delivered quality films. The latest installment was particularly captivating and mind-bending. There are certain movies that I would gladly pay twice to watch, and Now You See Me is undoubtedly one of them. When was the last time you went to the movies?
Certain movies I wouldn’t even pay for, and the only way I’d go see them is if someone else covered the cost. I know that might sound bad, but if you’re honest, you’d agree with me. These movies that we often don’t pay to see are because we already know the plot or ending, don’t seem to interest us, or something we shouldn’t be interested in. So, knowing that, would you pay twice to see that movie? What if I told you that you’re living that same movie that you wouldn’t pay for? Every time we sin, we live the same movie we know the plot, the ending, we’re uninterested in, and shouldn’t have been interested in. Scripture tells us that this movie has already been paid for, and you don’t have to pay twice:
Romans 6:23 (ESV) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The sin movie has the same script, plot, and outcome every single time. It doesn’t matter who tries to write it or direct it, the script doesn’t change. The plot doesn’t change. And the ending never changes. But here’s the deal: the Lord Jesus paid your way out of that movie so you didn’t have to keep watching it on repeat. Jesus, blameless, spotless, and without sin, stepped into the story for you. He took the role we deserved and paid the cost in full when He was crucified on the cross.
Sin promises freedom but always delivers bondage. It sells excitement but hands out regret. And yet Jesus interrupts the cycle and offers a different ending, one marked by grace, redemption, and new life. The cross wasn’t just a moment in history; it was an invitation to walk out of a story that leads to death and step into one that leads to life. The question isn’t whether the sin story ends badly—it always does. The real question is whether you’ll keep replaying it, or accept the ending Jesus already secured for you.
As I wrap this up, I want to leave you with this truth: life is hard. Every one of us faces challenges, and we all cope in different ways. But the one thing we share is this, sin always carries a consequence. Left unchecked, it leads to an ending we’ve seen play out over and over again. But you don’t have to live that way. You don’t have to accept the same fate or keep watching the same movie repeat itself in your life. There is another ending available to you. Jesus Christ paid for that ticket on the cross. The invitation is simple, but the impact is eternal: choose Jesus. Step out of the old story and receive the free gift of grace and new life that He has already promised.
Next step:
Grace doesn’t just forgive your past—it invites you into a new story. You don’t have to stay seated in a life that keeps replaying the same ending when Christ has already made a way for you to walk into something new. What is one area of your life where Jesus is inviting you to step out of the old story and trust Him with a new ending?
God bless you, God keep you. God loves you and I love you too!
