I like to boast that I’m quite a skilled cook. My tendency to believe so is either because I genuinely am good at it or because my family are just being kind and sparing my feelings, LOL 😆. One day, while cooking, I accidentally burned some chicken wings because I got distracted. If you’ve ever cooked on a gas grill, you know that you have to keep a close eye on it to avoid burning your food, just like I did. Unfortunately, my perfect cooking record now has a blemish, and to make matters worse, my children won’t let me live it down at times (They’re quite petty🤣).
Life teaches us that we all possess an unhidden talent in common: imperfection! Just as I burned those chicken wings, there’s someone in their life who’s burning trying to hide something because they don’t want to seem weak.
In this world of self-reliance and the pursuit of attainment, imperfection is often perceived as a weakness. However, what if I told you that your perceived weakness might actually be a strength? My weakness, for instance, is a strength. And here’s what the word of God says about this:
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NLT) 9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 10 That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Paul, the author of Corinthians, is writing to the church of Corinth. He addresses the boastful behavior among its members and redirects them in a helpful manner. Paul shares that he has sought the Heavenly Father’s intervention and asked HIM to remove a thorn from his side. After three requests, the Heavenly Father responds to Paul, revealing HIS power within our weaknesses. I once heard that the Heavenly Father allows us to experience some suffering so that HIS power can be demonstrated.
In conclusion, celebrate our weaknesses not as a crutch, but as a testament to the existence of a powerful God who restores. Our mighty God possesses the power to rest upon us, granting us strength through our vulnerability. By the way, I cooked chicken wings again, and my children couldn’t resist smashing them.
Next Step:
What weakness in your life are you attempting to mask to not show imperfection? Allow the Heavenly Father to work through your weakness to show his power.
God bless you, God keep you. God loves you and I love you too!
