The Greatest Show!!! 

Have you ever watched a movie that made you stop and think, "Wow...that was incredible?" One of those movies for me is The Greatest Showman. The music. The lights. The performances. The choreography. Everything about it is entertaining. Every scene seems bigger than the last, and you can tell a lot of creativity went into making it. But as much as I enjoy that movie, it made me realize something. It isn't the greatest show. The greatest show began long before there were movie theaters, cameras, or special effects. In fact, it started with four words that changed everything:

"In the beginning, God..." 

Before there was a stage, there was a Creator. Before there were performers, there was the One who simply spoke, and the show began. Genesis 1 tells us that before anything existed, there was only God. No mountains. No oceans. No trees. No birds. No stars. No sunsets. No people. There wasn't even light. Then God spoke.

"Let there be light."

And there was light.

Can you imagine witnessing that? One moment there is complete darkness. The next, light bursts onto the scene because the Creator spoke one sentence. Then He separated the waters from the sky. He gathered the seas and caused dry land to appear. He filled the earth with grass, flowers, and trees. He placed the sun to rule the day and the moon to rule the night. He scattered stars across the heavens—stars so numerous that we are still discovering them today.

Then came the fish of the sea. The birds of the air. The animals that roam the earth. Each one different. Each one designed with purpose. Each one created by the hand of God. And then, as if the show couldn't get any greater, God created mankind. Unlike everything else in creation, humanity wasn't simply spoken into existence. God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into him the breath of life. That wasn't just another act of creation. That was His masterpiece.

Sometimes I wonder if we've become so familiar with creation that we've stopped being amazed by it. We see the sunrise every morning and barely notice it. We hear birds singing and call it background noise. We walk beneath trees that have stood for decades and never stop to admire them. We look up at the stars for a moment, then go right back to staring at our phones. But creation has never stopped declaring the greatness of its Creator. Psalm 19:1 says:

"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands." (NIV)

Every sunrise is a sermon. Every ocean wave is a reminder. Every mountain points upward. Every flower whispers that God pays attention to the details. Every breath you take is evidence that the same God who breathed life into Adam is still sustaining His creation today. Hollywood can create incredible stories. Artists can paint beautiful pictures. Musicians can write unforgettable songs. But only the Heavenly Father can speak, and reality begins to exist. That's the greatest show. Not because of what was created but because of the One who created it. The next time you're outside, don't just admire creation. Let creation lead you to worship the Creator. Because the greatest show you'll ever witness isn't playing in a theater. It's been playing since Genesis 1. And every single day, creation is still pointing us back to the One who said,  "Let there be..."

Next Step

Look up at the sky. Listen to the birds. Feel the breeze. Watch the trees move. Notice something you've walked past a hundred times without really seeing. Then simply thank the Heavenly Father for being the Creator of it all.
