Have you ever encountered an angry believer? You might have come across individuals who love to grumble, complain, or even speak harshly about others. Perhaps you’ve even been that person at times in your own life. If we’re not careful, we can easily become self-righteous. After all, we believe we know the truth, while others may not. It’s tempting to look down upon others, demean them, or consider them inferior to ourselves. However, this overlooks the essence of the gospel of Jesus.
The gospel teaches us that we all start at the same point. Salvation and the understanding of God’s love for us are achieved through grace. This doesn’t make us any better than others in the world! Instead, we should be humble and gentle with others, rather than harsh and critical. Jesus instructs us to be patient with one another, helping each other in every way possible so that we all grow together. As Paul states in Ephesians 4:2:
Ephesians 4:2 (NIV) Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
These ideas aren’t Paul’s original thoughts. They actually stem from the way Jesus lived his life. As followers of Jesus, we should also strive to be gentle, humble, and patient with everyone we encounter. Regardless of their appearance or beliefs, every individual deserves dignity, patience, and love.
Take some time today to consider a few ways you can cultivate patience, humility, and love in your interactions with others. This could involve slowing down to show genuine care, offering encouraging words, or admitting to a mistake you’ve made.
Next Step:
Reflect on the decision you’ve made today to live in humility and grace with others.
God bless you, God keep you. God loves you and I love you too!
