Yesterday I shared some interesting facts about the technology we use in our daily lives. But here’s something even more fascinating — our body has a computer of its own.
Our brain is the body’s central processor and command center. It receives sensory input, regulates our heartbeat, stores memories, and sends signals throughout our entire system. It allows us to interact with the world and, quite literally, survive. It multitasks constantly, managing functions we don’t even think about. It is the most complex organ in our body.
The seat of interpretation.
The filter of information.
The initiator of movement.
The regulator of behavior.
That’s our brain.
Sounds a little technical, right?
But here’s what makes it divine.
There is one thing our brain does that no device, no algorithm, no artificial intelligence on this earth can truly replicate — it processes emotion. And that gift separates us from every other created thing. The ability to feel. To love. To grieve. To discern. That was given to us by our Heavenly Father. Our emotions allow us to first relate to Him through love. And love requires discernment.
In Proverbs 2:11, Scripture tells us that discretion will preserve us and understanding will keep us. That means our minds were designed to guard us — not just gather information. And in Matthew 6:22–23, Jesus reminds us that the eye is the lamp of the body. If our eyes are healthy, our whole body is full of light. But if it is unhealthy, darkness fills us.
What we allow in… affects what happens within.
Just like technology runs on inputs and outputs, so does our brain. But here’s the difference, our brain doesn’t just download information; it interprets it. It attaches emotion to it. It forms belief around it. It shapes perspective from it. So when we mindlessly consume everything our devices feed us, we aren’t just scrolling. We are programming. And if we are not using discernment, we are allowing something else to do the interpreting for us.
It is what it is… but it isn’t.
Because everything that enters through our eyes and ears eventually settles in the heart. And if the lamp is dim, the whole house feels it. Our Heavenly Father didn’t design our minds to be dumping grounds. He designed them to be guarded gates. Discernment is not optional in a digital world. It is survival.
Next step:
What is one thing that you need to limit, unfollow, or surrender today so your mind can be guarded and your heart filled with light?
God bless you, God keep you. God loves you and I love you too!
