This timeless game that we all played, and if you have little children, you still play to this day. I remember when I was a child, video games weren’t a thing, and being outside was. Being outside was the place to be, but you better had been in the house before the streetlights came on. We all know how the game went. Depending on where you’re from, you either counted to thirty, or if you’re from where I’m from, we yelled, “Ice in a glass” and then yelled, “Kool-aid” if you were the ones hiding. If you didn’t say that, you weren’t from where I’m from, and that was your fault. LOL! That was the only time we could stay out past the streetlights coming on.
Hide and seek was and always will be a favorite pastime for many of us. But our favorite pastime gets a little sinister because something has taken hold of it and uses it against us. The enemy, his name is satan, uses the same way played hide and seek against us. How does satan take an innocent game and turn it into a sinister one? He uses deception to get us to search for something that’s not hidden. The enemy uses disguise and charm to get us to fall into sin and deceive us into believing that the Heavenly Father is hard to find. This is furthest from the truth, and here’s what the word of God says:
Proverbs 26:24-26 (NIV) 24 Enemies disguise themselves with their lips, but in their hearts they harbor deceit. 25 Though their speech is charming, do not believe them, for seven abominations fill their hearts. 26 Their malice may be concealed by deception, but their wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.
The enemy’s goal is to deceive us by concealing the truth and enticing us with lies. However, the Heavenly Father never conceals Himself from us; we simply fail to perceive Him. Falling for the enemy’s deceptive schemes will lead us astray, causing us to believe that God doesn’t love us. But the enemy is the one who is truly hiding. He conceals the truth by making us seek fulfillment in the things of this world. We must recognize this recurring story, which is a sham!
The Heavenly Father would never conceal anything from us. We possess a book, meticulously written over 1500 years, spanning three continents and three different languages, containing all the truth. This doesn’t resemble a game of hide and seek to me. Therefore, my advice to you before I conclude is to find the Bible that you have concealed from yourself and open it.
Next step:
How can you develop greater discernment in your life? Are there areas where you might need to be more open and honest with the Heavenly Father?
God bless you, God keep you. God loves you and I love you too!
