During the early 2000s, Verizon Wireless gained immense popularity with their catchy slogan, “Can you hear me now?” The iconic commercial featuring the “test man” asking the same question in various locations became a household name, leading to a surge in cell service subscriptions. As a result, Verizon’s customer base soared to an impressive 15% during that period. Interestingly, Paul Marcarnelli, the original “test man” who popularized the slogan, transitioned from making commercials for Sprint to returning to Verizon. It’s quite a coincidence!
Have you ever wondered, “Does God truly hear my prayers?” If so, you’re not alone. This is a common thought shared by many people worldwide. Is there an answer to this age-old question: does the Heavenly Father truly hear my prayers? Let’s turn to scripture to provide us with an answer:
2 Chronicles 7:14 (ESV) if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
As we can observe in scripture, the Heavenly Father responds to our question by providing specific instructions for our prayers to be heard by Him. Additionally, He promises us when these conditions are met. Here are the four (4) conditions that the Heavenly Father set forth:
Humble ourselves- We must recognize our sole dependence on the Heavenly Father and admit our failures to HIM.
Pray- Engage in continuous, open and honest conversation with the Heavenly Father.
Seek HIS face- Pursue the Heavenly Father presence
Turn from our wicked ways- Practice true repentance, an 180-degree turn away from sin
The Heavenly Father also makes three (3) promises to us in the scriptures, provided that certain conditions are met. Here are the Heavenly Father’s promises:
Hear from heaven- The Heavenly Father will attentively listen to our prayers
Forgive our sins- The Heavenly Father will immediately and completely restore HIS relationship with us.
Heal our land- the Heavenly Father will restore our physical and spiritually well-being
It’s humbling to realize that our Heavenly Father provides instructions and promises in the same verse about our prayers being heard. You can be assured that the Heavenly Father will fulfill his promises. Isaiah 55:11 (ESV) states, “So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”
To conclude, we must shift our perspective when approaching the Heavenly Father. Instead of asking, “Does God hear me?” we should ask, “Am I fulfilling the instructions given to me by the Heavenly Father so that HE can hear me?” By adopting this mindset, we align ourselves with the Heavenly Father’s plan, allowing Him to meet us where we are in life. It’s always beneficial to switch to a phone plan that suits our needs, and it’s even more advantageous when we switch to the Heavenly Father’s plan, enabling Him to hear us.
Next Step:
God’s promise begins with His people. Healing comes when we humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn our hearts back to Him. Renewal doesn’t start around us, it starts within us. What is God inviting you to humble, surrender, or turn from today?
God bless you, God keep you. God loves you and I love you too!
